EDITORIAL STANDARDS

Clear rules, useful context, honest recommendations

Our editorial standards are designed to make every page helpful to a real person preparing to play, teach, or choose a game.

Accuracy before shortcuts

We explain the most common beginner-friendly rules and distinguish optional variations from the core game. When editions differ, the instructions supplied with the reader’s copy remain the final authority. We do not knowingly present house rules as universal rules.

Original, practical explanations

Our goal is not to restate a box description. A complete guide should explain setup, the normal turn sequence, scoring or victory conditions, beginner strategy, common errors, and situations that often cause disagreement. Collection articles must help readers make a decision, not merely repeat a list of game names.

Review and updates

Pages carry a visible review date. We revisit guides when rules, platforms, safety recommendations, or product availability materially change. Small wording corrections may be made without changing the review date.

Affiliate independence

Some pages contain affiliate links, identified near the recommendation. We may receive compensation after a qualifying purchase at no additional cost to the reader. Compensation does not determine the rules we publish, and we do not promise that one product is right for every player.

Corrections

If you find an error or an edition-specific difference we should explain, please use our contact page. Substantive corrections are handled according to our corrections policy.
